HOW TO KEEP YOUR NURSERY SIMPLE AND SAVE MONEY

1. GET JUST THE ESSENTIALS

You don't have to get everything in the book when designing a nursery because keeping your nursery simple can save you a lot of money. You don't need a whole lot of unnecessary furniture and items in your nursery. Remember that babies grow faster than you think so buying excessive furniture or items may be a waste of money.

Essential Items:

  • A bed for your baby

  • A chair to rest and rock your baby to sleep

  • Drawers to store additional clothes and accessories

  • Lighting if necessary

2. SHOP ONLINE

Shopping online is more efficient than going to retail stores. Plus, there are amazing deals online with next day shipping. After figuring out what furniture you will need and other necessities, hit the computer.

  • You can get a bed that is not so expensive like a Pack 'N Play at Target, Burlington, or Walmart. Pack 'N Plays are made suitable for babies sizes newborn-age 1. The cost range is from $59.00-$99.00.

  • If you prefer a crib, buy a crib online because cribs at physical retail stores are just too expensive. Wayfair has all kinds of cribs starting at $119.00.

  • You can get a modern chic reclining rocking chair from ebay or amazon for just $99.00. It doesn't hurt your pocket to also buy new furniture and items from buying and selling apps like Mercari, Offer up, Let Go etc.

  • When buying drawers get a convenient drawer that you can change your baby on. You can get any type of changing pad for your baby. You can get wooden drawers from Wayfair for a little over $100.00.

3. BE CREATIVE WHEN ENHANCING YOUR NURSERY DESIGN

Many online stores today sell unique décor items and essentials. Find items that have a unique design that will instantly pop in your nursery.

  • You can get sterilite stackable drawers at Target or Walmart for just $10.00-$20.00. (make sure the color or design goes with the nursery)

  • You can get a lamp stand from Target for just $15.00.

  • You can get décor pillows from Ikea for $1.00-$3.00

  • Add pictures as well to personalize your nursery.

  • Etsy is another good online store that has creative baby items made from scratch. You can also try to be crafty yourself and make your own accessories for your nursery.

The curtains and area rug in the picture above did not come together. Again, buying and selling apps are great sources when buying for your nursery.

  • The curtains are from Mercari for less than $10.00

  • The 5x8 area rug is from Offer Up for less than $50.00

  • You can buy a single bed from Wayfair for just $100.00. A single bed is not a necessity, but when having a newborn, you will not get any sleep. It's easier to sleep in the nursery as you'll be constantly getting up every 2-3 hours feeding your baby or babies.
