3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD PRAY THROUGHOUT PREGNANCY

1. GOD WILL GET YOU THROUGH PREGNANCY, DELIVERY, AND MORE (BELIEVE)

(Isaiah 66:9-10;12-13) says, "don't I bring the moment of birth? Do I not give delivery says the Lord? Do I not cover your womb? I will extend peace to her like a river....as a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you").

Isaiah explains that giving birth is a beautiful gift that God created. He chose women to experience giving birth naturally and blesses us throughout the process. God knows women are strong enough to handle this amazing experience. Yes, not every mother will get to experience giving birth naturally or experience giving birth at all. If we're experiencing miscarriages or facing fertility issues, it doesn't mean we are to give up on motherhood. We must acknowledge, believe, and have faith that God will get you through any obstacle when trying to have a baby. Take some time to yourself and pray for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. When facing fertility issues, ask God, what is the next step or best plan for me? Should I change my diet? Should I adopt? Should I use a surrogate? Should I try other options that the doctor suggested? Or should I just simply be patient and wait for God's timing? Pregnant women may go through challenges, but God will help you overcome any challenge.

2. ONLY GOD HAS CONTROL

Having an OBGYN or midwife/doula throughout your pregnancy does help when preparing for your delivery. However, there is no guarantee that every plan will work. Doctors have great advice and suggestions, but they do not have all the answers. It is fine to do what you feel is necessary to make a situation work. However what works best, is putting your focus into prayer and your situation will guarantee work itself out. Pregnancy and birth can be very unpredictable which can cause major stress. Prayer works out by believing that God will get you through any challenge. Praying also brings forth peace for you and your baby.

GOD HAS ALL THE CONTROL. When a baby is in a breech position, mothers will do hours of research and do what the physicians recommend to get the baby to turn around, but sometimes the baby will just not turn around no matter what you do. Even if you make the doctors physically re-position the baby in your stomach so the baby won't be breech, doesn't mean that you will still have a vaginal birth or an easy birth. If the baby turned around and you ended up having a healthy natural birth, that's a blessing. If more problems come along in the process, trust that God will get you through another challenge. There are so many challenges that may occur when it comes to pregnancy and birth, but through prayer, you will get through any obstacle no matter what happens or how it's done. Trust that God has all the control.

3. GIVING BIRTH IS A GIFT FROM GOD.

Do not take pregnancy for granted. A mother did not put a baby into this world, God did. God created us all. God knew and designed your baby before you even met the father of your child. We all have a purpose and one of them is to receive the gift of pregnancy. Thank God each day that he designed us and formed us. It is a blessing and a gift from God to experience motherhood.

My Story:

I went through a smooth pregnancy and delivery and I know it's all because of my faith. According to my blood work results, I did receive news from the doctor saying that I am diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. It is a genetic disorder that affects the control of muscle movement. This genetic disorder can cause infants to be developmentally delayed. depending on which type you have, infants are unable to use their muscles to support their head, swallow, or even walk. Some sources say it can become fatal. It was very disturbing news to hear that my delivery may become fatal and there was nothing I could do but pray and remain positive.

Thankfully my husband/baby father wasn't diagnosed with the genetic disorder. Therefor, my son only had a 1% chance of getting affected. My baby came out perfectly fine because I invested most of my time praying and reading God's word. It was not a coincidence. God told me not to worry and I believed in his word. I also had a c-section which God helped me get through as well. You can't take having children for granted, because only God has the control. Be thankful that he gives us the gift to conceive and honor him through the process. God will give you what you need and more.
